Advertiser Staff

The San Francisco 49ers announced on its Web site today the free-agent signing of four-year NFL veteran Sam Rayburn. Terms of the contract were not announced by the team.

Rayburn (6-3, 303) previously played with the Philadelphia Eagles from 2003-06 after joining the team as a rookie free agent out of Tulsa in 2003.

He was waived by the Eagles in May. Rayburn played in 53 games for the Eagles with four starts, amassing 65 total tackles and nine sacks.

His best season came during the Eagles' Super Bowl run in 2004 when he played in all 16 games with two starts and finished with 46 total tackles and six sacks.
