Tia Carrere coming to town to promote debut CD

Advertiser Staff

Tia Carrere, best known as the bombshell in "Wayne's World," is taking a turn at the mike, with her debut CD "Hawaiiana." The O'ahu-born Carrere will come to town this month to promote the disc, which comprises largely traditional Hawaiian songs such as "He Aloha Mele." But there are a couple of contemporary nods, too, including a cover of The Carpenters' "Sing."

Tia Carrere will make the following appearances:

  • 2 p.m. June 30: Borders Pearlridge in-store appearance and signing

  • 8:30 p.m. June 30: Borders Ward Centre in-store appearance and signing

  • 4 p.m. July 1: Flavors of Honolulu live performance

  • 1 p.m. July 2: Pacific Beach Hotel (outdoor cafe) — Live broadcast of new Japanese radio station FM 101.1

Carrere will sign her new CD; organizers request that fans do not bring in outside items to be autographed.
