Rain concert a no-go for Friday; refunds announced

Rain's concert Friday night at the Aloha Stadium is a no-go.

The local promoters said at a press conference today that the show has been postponed. But they have no alternate date in mind at this time for a show by the South Korean pop star.

Refunds for those who bought tickets via Ticketmaster will be available starting tomorrow at the point of purchase, online at www.ticketmaster.com, by phone at (877) 750-4400 and at outlets such as the Aloha Stadium, Blaisdell Center box office and Times Supermarket locations.

Those who bought $300 VIP premium tickets from the local presenter, Click Entertainment, can request refunds beginning next Wednesday, at Click Entertainment headquarters, located at the Samsung Plaza on Ke'eaumoku Street, according to the promoters.

Rain, also known as Bi (the Korean word for rain), also is in the midst of litigation about the use of the name Rain. A Reno company, Rain Corporation, has filed a lawsuit contending it has rights to the name, used by a Beatles tribute band it promotes in this country.

The Korea Times reported on Saturday that all American concerts by the South Korean pop star, including Honolulu's, were off. According to the Korean newspaper, his canceled concerts, besides Honolulu's, included Toronto (May 3), Atlanta (June 19), New York (June 23), San Francisco (June 27) and Los Angeles (June 30). However, promoters announced today that the L.A. date is still scheduled.
