New face on Hawaiian Electric Industries board

Richard W. Gushman II has been appointed to the board of directors of Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc., the owner of the state's largest electric utilities and American Savings Bank.

Gushman, a developer who's been involved in real estate projects valued at more than $2 billion, has served as a director of American Savings and also serves on the boards of The James Campbell Co., Outrigger Enterprises Group, Servco Pacific Inc. and Hilo Hattie.
