Murder witness confronted by 2 youths, police say

Police arrested two teenage boys on suspicion of intimidating a witnesses in a recent murder case.

The boys, 16, allegedly confronted the man, 21, on May 31 in 'Ewa Beach, accusing him of being involved in the murder of Karen Ertell, whose body was found May 25 in her 'Ewa Beach home.

One of the boys allegedly assaulted the man during the 3 p.m. confrontation.

Police said the man was with Ertell's suspected killer, a 15-year-old boy, in her stolen car that was abandoned at Geiger Park.

One of the youths arrested in the intimidation case is believed to be a relative of the murder suspect, who was turned in to police by his father.

Prosecutors are seeking a Family Court waiver on the 15-year-old boy so he can be tried as an adult for murder. A waiver hearing is scheduled in July.The boy is being held at the Alder Street detention facility until the hearing.
