Construction starts on city's new Kapolei facility

Advertiser Staff

Work will begin today on the city's new Kapolei Corporation Yard in Campbell Industrial Park, across from Barbers Point Beach Park.

The $8.5 million facility will include fueling, maintenance and storage areas for city vehicles and equipment, along with offices, lockers and a meeting area.

The project is expected to be finished by September 2008, and will replace an inadequate facility in Wai'anae that the city has been leasing from the state.

Future projects planned for the 15-acre site include a new facility for the Automotive Equipment Service and a new driver training facility.

Mayor Mufi Hannemann will participate in today's groundbreaking.
