Tyler Davis, Keoni Ruth agree to terms with Padres

Advertiser Staff and News Services

Former University of Hawai'i pitcher Tyler Davis and Kamehameha Schools alum Keoni Ruth were among 18 players who agreed to terms yesterday with the San Diego Padres.

The players, who were selected in baseball's First-Year Player Draft, will attend a mini camp before getting their assignments.

Davis, a right-hander, was selected by the Padres in the 21st round, and the first player with Hawai'i ties to be taken in last week's draft. Ruth, a second baseman who played at the University of San Diego and Concordia, was picked in the 22nd round.

Seven players with Hawai'i ties were picked in the 50-round draft.
