HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union warns of phone scam

HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union has been referenced in a phone scam that began yesterday, the credit union said in a news release.Members of the credit union and nonmembers have been receiving automated messages on their home and cellular phones. The automated message says they are HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union and are requesting to "Renew On-Line Services." The recording asks the person to call (800) 505-9478. The announcement says, "You have called HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union's billing and payment services" and you are asked to enter your 16 digit debit or credit card number along with your PIN.
The public is warned not to respond to the call.
HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union is in the process of contacting federal authorities to address this scam.
