A 16-year-old boy was charged today as a juvenile for allegedly punching and breaking the jaw of another youth during a May 31 confrontation in 'Ewa Beach related to the Karen Ertell murder case.

The youth is charged with first-degree assault.

According to a police synopsis on the assault, the boy was among a large group which confronted another boy, 14, and a 21-year-old man, accusing them of being involved in the murder of Ertell, whose body was found May 25 in her 'Ewa Beach home.

The younger boy was allegedly punched during the confrontation. The charged youth was sent to the Alder Street detention facility, where a 15-year-old boy suspected of killing Ertell is being held pending a July Family Court waiver hearing.

In a separate synopsis, police noted that two 16-year-old youths were arrested for intimidating a witness, the 21-year-old man. The man was allegedly with the murder suspect, 15, in Ertell's stolen car, which was recovered at Geiger Park after she was killed.
