Laurie Arial Tochiki has been promoted to associate dean for student services at the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawai'i. The school also announced yesterday that Jennifer Hee has been appointed as director of development for the University of Hawai'i Foundation.

Tochiki has been the assistant dean since 1999. She will now join Dean Aviam Soifer's leadership team with the primary responsibility of planning, organizing and directing all student services activities. Tochiki is also responsible for the administration of the instructional, research and public services objectives of the School of Law, including development of strategic long- and short-term plans for a robust graduate student services program, administration of the academic advising program, scholarships, admissions, academic actions and recruitment.

Tochiki previously served as assistant professor and adjunct professor from 1994 to 1999.

Hee, meanwhile, will play a lead role in developing the college's overall strategy for fund development.

Hee received a BA in English from UH and is certified to teach English as a Second Language. She also received an associate of arts degree in liberal arts from Kapi'olani Community College.

Prior to joining the University of Hawai'i Foundation, Hee served as the annual giving officer and alumni director at Hawai'i Baptist Academy.
