Tips for 'Take Your Pet to Work Day'

Advertiser Staff

The Hawaiian Humane Society is offering tips to people who plan to participate in "Take Your Pet to Work Day," an annual day when businesses are encouraged to welcome employees bringing their pets to the workplace. The day will be observed on June 22.

Among the tips are:

  • Considering the needs of co-workers with allergies or those who don't want to work near animals.

  • Pets should be housebroken, "well-socialized" and under owner control.

  • Food, water and treats should be on hand for the pet.

Other companies that can't host pets can celebrate the day in other ways, the society said in a press release.

This includes organizing a donation drive for animal shelters, encouraging people to bring a photo of their pets to work or having the Hawaiian Human Society in to share its history of helping people and animals.
