Honolulu ties for 31st as 'sweatiest' city in U.S.

Advertiser Staff

Honolulu is tied with Columbia, S.C., for the title of the 31st "sweatiest" city in the nation, according to Old Spice, the maker of deodorants and colognes.

The company ranked cities based on computer simulations of the amount of sweat a person would produce walking around for an hour in the average high summer temperatures last year. Phoenix retained its spot as the most moist place in the nation with the average resident losing 26.3 ounces of sweat per hour during a typical summer day — meaning residents collectively produce enough sweat to fill more than 53,000 beer kegs in one hour. The city's average high temperature was 94.6 degrees in the June-August period.

Las Vegas was No. 2, while Dallas was No. 3. Least sweaty were Portland, Maine; Seattle; and San Francisco.
