Nino, Stenftenagel to play for Manoa Cup title

Kurt Nino reached his second Manoa Cup final by defeating Lorens Chan.

Kurt Nino and Edward Stenftenagel will meet in tomorrow's 36-hole final of the 99th Manoa Cup at O'ahu Country Club.

Nino, 19, of Honolulu, defeated 13-year-old Lorens Chan, 2 up, and Stenftenagel, 20, of Indian Wells, Calif., stopped Taeksoo Kim, 16, 3 and 2, in today's semifinals.

In the quarterfinals, Chan, of Honolulu, defeated defending champion Jonathan Ota, 3 and 1. Nino ousted four-time champion Brandan Kop, 2 and 1. Stenftenagel ousted David Fink, 1 up and Kim defeated Max Bonk, 1 up.

Tomorrow's final begins at 7 a.m.

The Manoa Cup is the Hawai'i state amateur match play championship.
