Future programs will be held Wednesdays, with a roster to be announced.
The shows, a partnership with AlohaVideo.TV and LavaNet, Inc., will expand viewership to not just the local market but fans on the World Wide Web.
Pekelo, a 2007 Na Hoku Hanohano Award nominee from Maui, will kick off the series, with appearances by previous Hoku winners Randy Lorenzo and Auntie Genoa Keawe. Performances start at 5:30 p.m., at the Pakele Lounge (formerly the Mahina Lounge), at the Ala Moana. Seating is limited and the public may attend.
"This is a great way for people all over the world to see and enjoy Hawai'i's music as if they were there enjoying it themselves first hand," said Grant James, general manager of Ala Moana Hotel, in a statement.
"Since online video provides the opportunity to interact with people all over the world in a way that is increasingly dynamic with live streaming video, we can take this Hawaiian musical experience even one step further," said Pali Ka'aihue, president of LavaNet, Inc. Ka'aihue's musical group, Pali, also is a contender in the 2007 Hoku Awards.
