Advertiser Staff

Gov. Linda Lingle has released $564,000 for repairs and improvements at the Hawai'i State Veterans Cemetery.

Improvements will include repairs to the roadway, drainage system upgrades and repairs to the sloped area behind the columbarium.

"Improvements to the Hawai'i State Veterans Cemetery are critical in order to properly honor those who lost their lives for the freedom we enjoy today," Lingle said in a released statement. "The cemetery is a perpetual tribute to their countless acts of bravery and the services they performed for the betterment of our nation. It, therefore, deserves proper care and maintenance."

The Hawai'i State Veterans Cemetery, located in Kane'ohe, is the final resting place of 2,354 Hawai'i veterans.
