KAPOLEI
City starts work on vehicle yard

Advertiser Staff

Mayor Mufi Hannemann and other city officials broke ground Wednesday on a new Kapolei Corporation Yard in Campbell Industrial Park, across from Barbers Point Beach Park.

The $8.5 million facility will include fueling, maintenance and storage areas for city vehicles and equipment, along with offices, lockers, a meeting area and a caretaker's residence.

The project is expected to be finished by September 2008, and will replace a facility in Wai'anae that the city has been leasing from the state.

Future plans for the 15-acre site include a new facility for the Automotive Equipment Service and a new driver training facility.
