Music and art events to spice up your weekend

A couple of multimedia events are happening this weekend for those who are music-and-arts inclined:

  • "Coconut Joe and the Bicycle Perspectives" showcases the music, words and photography of Island singer/songwriter Bob Rogers, founder of the veteran band Coconut Joe; and the music of the rest of the Joes.

  • "A Living Triptych: Jazz and the Creative Act" combines the music of the Honolulu Jazz Quartet, the paintings of Lauren Okano, dancer Pam Sandridge and filmmaker Robert Pennybacker's "Jazz & The Creative Act." It's happening at 8 p.m. today at the Honolulu Design Center's Cupola Theatre. Admission is $15 at the door. www.honoluludesigncenter.com.
