UH Med School to open holistic wellness center

HONOLULU - Members of the Department of Complementary and Alternative Health Care at the John A. Burns School of Medicine are opening a center next month for patients interested in a holistic approach to wellness."We will establish an additional source of integrative medical services that are reputable and responsive to the needs of the community," said Rosanne Harrigan, Chair of the Department.
The Wellness Center will open in mid-July at the Medical School's Kaka'ako campus. The group practice will be offered by the University Integrative Medicine Group (UIMG), a non-profit subsidiary of UCERA, the University Clinical Education and Research Associates.
"Our mission is to practice integrative medicine by integrating allopathic medicine and complementary/alternative holistic as well as non-traditional methods and approaches that are not being fully used by health care providers," said Dr. Harrigan. Services will be provided by four physicians and an Advanced Practice Nurse who are trained in other healing modalities.
Initial emphasis will be:
i Wellness Evaluation
i Diabetic Care
i Obesity
i Heart Disease
i Pain Management
