The Medal of Honor is the highest award for valor in action against an enemy force that can be given to an individual serving in the armed services of the United States. Generally presented to its recipient by the president of the United States in the name of Congress, it is often called the Congressional Medal of Honor. More than 3,400 Medals of Honor have been awarded since its creation in 1861.
Here are the names and units of the 21 Japanese-American World War II Medal of Honor recipients, eight of whom served in the 100th Infantry Battalion:
