Tickets for hula competition at Blaisdell on sale today

Honolulu's longest-running hula competition, the 34th Annual King Kamehameha Hula Competition, takes over Neal S. Blaisdell Center Arena at 6 p.m. on June 22 and at 1 p.m. June 23.

Sponsored by the State Council on Hawaiian Heritage, the international competition features male groups, female groups, combined groups, kupuna wahine 'auana groups and individual chanters in traditional and contemporary styles of hula. An 'Olelo, or language, award is also presented in both kahiko and 'auana divisions.

Tickets for the event go on sale today. Tickets are $8.50, $10, $12 and $20 per person per day and are available at the Blaisdell box office.
