Society of Seven golf tournament tees off July 16

Space is filling up for the 12th Annual Society of Seven Golf Tournament, which will be held at the Mid-Pacific Country Club on July 16.Both SOS groups — the classic one, now based at Las Vegas' Flamingo hotel and the spin-off Las Vegas combo, anchored at the Outrigger Waikiki's Main Showroom — will participate.
Check in will be at 9 a.m., with shotgun starting at 11 a.m. Play format is two-person team, best ball, and entry fee is $300 per team.
A host of local entertainers, including Carole Kai, Jimmy Borges and Melveen Leed, have signed up. Kimo Kahoano will emcee the traditional prize-giving party following the tournament.

The SOS — the classic group led by Tony Ruivivar — will be in town for a pair of concerts at 8 p.m. July 13 and 14 at the Blaisdell Concert Hall.
