MIL will have preseason football games this year

The Maui Interscholastic League will have 11 preseason football games this season, one year after no preseason games were held.

A new schedule format afforded the preseason games. The six MIL teams will have a seven-game schedule this year. Last year, teams had a two-round, 10-game schedule.

Seven teams from California will visit Maui during the preseason, along with one from Canada and one from Japan. Also, Pac-3 will compete under the name Trojans this year. The team is made up of players from St. Anthony, Seabury Hall and Ka'ahumanu Hou.

Maui vs. South East High School (Southgate, Calif.) at War Memorial Stadium, 7:30 p.m.

Aug. 24

Kwansei (Japan) at King Kekaulike, 7:30 p.m.

Baldwin at Kamehameha-Hawai'i, 7:30 p.m.

Aug. 25

Waiakea at Lahainaluna, 1 p.m.

Trojans vs. Fort McMurray (Canada) at War Memorial Stadium, 7:30 p.m.

Aug. 30

Baldwin vs. San Clemente (Calif.) at War Memorial Stadium, 7:30 p.m.

Aug. 31

Valley Center (Calif.) at Kamehameha-Maui, 6 p.m.

Lahainaluna vs. Bonita Vista (Calif.) at War Memorial Stadium, 7:30 p.m.

El Capitan (Calif.) at King Kekaulike, 7:30 p.m.

Sept. 1

Trojans vs. West Hills (San Diego, Calif.) at War Memorial Stadium, 4:30 p.m.

Maui vs. Bishop School (San Diego, Calif.) at War Memorial Stadium, 7:30 p.m.
