Two other Hawai'i golfers — Pearl City's Mari Chun and Lihue's Miki Ueoka — are tied for eighth with even-par 72. Another, Honolulu's Xyra Suyetsugu, is tied for 13th at 1-over.

Hawai'i's other golfers are:

Honolulu's Kristina Merkle at 3-over 75 (T28);

Tiffany Lua, a 16-year-old from Rowland Heights, Calif., leads after a bogey-free 5-under 67 — a career-best by two shots — on the 6,094-yard layout.

Kim and another 15-year-old, Ha-Na Jang of Korea, shot 3-under 69.

Stroke-play qualifying continues with 18 holes tomorrow, with the low 64 scorers advancing to match play. Match play starts with the first round on Wednesday, the second and third rounds on Thursday, the quarterfinals and semifinals Friday and a 36-hole final Saturday.
