WAIKIKI
Ala Wai pupils find noise pays

Advertiser Staff

Contractors with the Beachwalk Wastewater Emergency Bypass project surprised fifth-graders at Ala Wai Elementary School during a graduation ceremony on June 7.

This class was most affected by the project as their classrooms were closest to the busiest areas of construction.

Each student and teacher got a $25 Borders gift card from Hawaiian Dredging Construction Co. and Frank Coluccio Construction.

"They were sometimes noisy neighbors, but always good neighbors, and they were really concerned for the students," said Ala Wai principal Charlotte Unni.
