Police may have recovered gun used in 'Aiea shooting

Police investigating shots fired at a public housing complex June 10 recovered a revolver suspected of being the firearm used in a earlier shooting in the parking lot of 'Aiea Public Library.

Two 17-year-old boys were arrested as juveniles in the June incident on suspicion of possession of a firearm and ammunition and for reckless endangering at an 'Aiea-area housing complex, police said.

A .357 revolver recovered at the complex is believed to be the gun used in the May 21 incident in which 16-year-old Koamalu Edayan-Lindo was shot in the chest. The boy survived.

The May case was initially reported as a drive-by shooting. However, police determined the next day that Edayan-Lindo and another boy, 16, were playing with the gun and it went off accidentally.

The uninjured boy was arrested as a juvenile for felony firearm offenses and misdemeanor filing of a false police report.

Investigators are awaiting ballistics tests to determine if the gun recovered June 10 was the one used May 21.
