A brushfire today in Waialua burned about 10-12 acres before being contained.

Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Capt. Frank Johnson said seven engine companies, two tankers and 35-40 firefighters were involved in the three-hour firefight that began at 3:30 p.m.

The fire scene was behind the old sugar mill and did not cause damage to property.
