Hawaii's World Heritage Festival looking for volunteers

At the 4th Annual Hawaii's World Heritage Festival, the public can discover fascinating facts about the colorful threads of cultures that made their way here over the centuries to create Hawaii's "tapestry of people." The free festival takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 18 in downtown Hilo's Mooheau Park & Bandstand and organizers are looking for cultural organizations, clubs, schools, churches, and other groups that would like to participate.Groups are invited to join the festivities and provide any or all of the following:
- Create educational display and/or host hands-on activities (craft making, games, demonstrations)
- Participate in the Global Fashion Show with 1 – 4 models
- Perform traditional dances, music, games and/or theater on stage (5 – 20 minutes)
- Sell crafts and art, tee shirts, other fundraising items
- Sell food representing their cultural heritage
Each organization or cultural group that participates in both the fashion show and that does a performance will receive a $150 donation.

Organizers are also looking for volunteers to fulfill duties such as assisting with collating mailings, putting up posters, and helping with the information booth, the fashion show, and decorations.
Presented by the Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council non-profit organization and founded by producer/director Alice Moon, the Festival is supported by grants from the County of Hawaii Department of Research & Development through the Hawaii Tourism Authority and the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts.
