The Kids First! Film Festival continues Sunday, June 24, at 4 p.m. in the University of Hawai'i's Krauss Hall Yukiyoshi Room with the Hawai'i premiere of "Eye of the Dolphin." The film, which is best suited for children age 10 and up, is free.

Starring Carly Schroeder ("Mean Creek," "The Lizzy McGuire Movie") and Adrian Dunbar ("The Crying Game," "Richard III"), with a supporting role by Academy Award nominee Katherine Ross ("The Graduate"), the film chronicles the journey of 14-year-old Alyssa, who has been living with her Grandmother Lucy since the death of her mother the year before. After a tough year for both of them, Lucy decides it's time for Alyssa to go to the Bahamas to live with Hawk, a dedicated dolphin researcher and the father Alyssa never knew she had. After a difficult start to her new life and her new relationship with her dad, Alyssa finds she shares with her father the gift for communicating with dolphins. And just in time — she and a new dolphin friend help to save her father's research center from greedy politicians who want to turn it into a tacky tourist attraction.

Carly Schroeder won Best Child Actor in a Supporting Role at the International Family Film Festival for her performance in "Eye of the Dolphin." And the film was voted Best Drama at the festival.
