Wai'anae bank teller spots bogus checks

A 59-year-old woman was arrested at a Wai'anae bank yesterday afternoon after she allegedly tried to cash seven forged traveler's checks.

Police were told the woman entered the bank about 3:30 p.m. and presented the checks, each made out for $500, to a teller, who immediately spotted the checks as forgeries.

Police were called to the bank and arrested the woman on suspicion of seven counts of second-degree forgery.

Man arrested in tie to attempted car theft incident

A 21-year-old man was arrested in connection with an attempted car theft incident in Kane'ohe yesterday afternoon.

The car's owner, a 26-year-old man, told police he was walking toward the car about 4:30 p.m. when he noticed the younger man sitting inside.

When the man inside the car spotted him, he got out and ran, the car owner told police.

The owner checked the interior of his car and found the ignition switch had been "punched," police said.

Patrol officers responding to a call about the incident found the suspect a short time later and arrested him on suspicion of attempted unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.

Man arrested in connection to sexual assault case

A 43-year-old Honolulu man was arrested yesterday after a 13-year-old girl, described by police as a family member, told another family member the she was sexually assaulted by the man multiple times between June 2006 and the present.

Police arrested the man on suspicion of two counts of first-degree sexual assault and six counts of third-degree sexual assault.
