The Pentagon today released the names of three Schofield Barracks soldiers who were killed last Thursday in Kirkuk, Iraq.

Spc. Val J. Borm, 21, of Sidney, Neb.; Sgt. Derek T. Roberts, 24, of Gold River, Calif.; and Spc. Farid Elazzouzi, of Paterson, N.J., died of wounds from a roadside bomb that exploded near their vehicle, the Pentagon said.

Borm's family had previously identified him as one of those killed in the blast.

The soldiers were assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Infantry Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, at Schofield Barracks.

Five Schofield soldiers in total were killed last week in northern Iraq. 1st Lt. Frank Walkup IV, 23, of Woodbury, Tenn., died Saturday from a roadside bomb blast in Rashaad, southwest of Kirkuk, and Pfc. Casey S. Carriker, 20, of Hoquiam, Wash., died in Kirkuk last Wednesday from non-combat injuries.

More than 7,000 Schofield soldiers are about 11 months into a 15-month deployment. Twenty-eight have been killed.
