Advertiser Staff

Hawai'i fresh papaya utilization is estimated at 2.1 million pounds for May 2007, which is up 18 percent from May 2006, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service. Year-to-date utilization at 11 million pounds was 1 percent above the same period last year.

Papaya growers are expected to receive an estimated 49 cents per pound for fresh fruit in May, which is a penny higher than April, but nine cents lower than May 2006.
