Kauai brushfire burns 40 acres of HHL property

A brushfire on Kaua'i today burned about 40 acres of Hawaiian Home Lands property in Wailua but caused no major property damage.The fire between Leho Drive and Kuhi'o Highway started at 1 p.m.
Thirteen firefighters from the Kapa'a and Lihu'e stations assisted by a helicopter prevented the fire from reaching a transformer and utility poles in the area.
The fire was reported under control at 3 p.m. and extinguished at 3:25 p.m.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
