NBA: Pistons' draft coordinator going to Sonics

Associated Press

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — The Detroit Pistons are losing their point man in draft preparation with the NBA draft one week away.

Scott Perry, the Pistons' director of player personnel since 2002, has accepted the job as assistant general manager with the Seattle SuperSonics.

The Pistons said the 43-year-old Perry is expected to assume his new role as soon as contract details are finalized.

Perry was hired by the Pistons as a college scout in 2000. Before that, he was coach at Eastern Kentucky for three seasons.

The NBA draft will take place on June 28 in New York. Seattle has the No. 2 pick behind Portland.
