Komine a Kalani High alum was called up from Sacramento Monday to give some length in the bullpen, but he did not pitch during his short stay.
Komine joined Baldwin alum Kurt Suzuki, a catcher, who was promoted to the A's last week.
The 26-year-old Komine, who made his major league debut with the A's last season, is 3-8 with a 5.31 ERA in 14 starts for Sacramento. He was second in the Pacific Coast League with 14 home runs allowed.
Harden, who has been out since April 16 with a strained right shoulder, will initially pitch out of the bullpen as he tries to build up strength to eventually return to the rotation.
