Bishop Museum teaches culture stewardship today

"On Being Kahu," a two-part series, will be held 6:30 p.m. today at the Atherton Halau of Bishop Museum.

Museum conservator Valerie Free will discuss caring for heirlooms, assisted by Canadian Conservation Institute's Janet Mason. The evening will begin with a tour of the "Pauahi's Legacy" exhibit in Castle Hall.

A panel will be moderated by Jalna Ke'ala, 'Ahahui Siwila o Kapolei (Kapolei Hawaiian Civic Club).

The second part of the series, "The Kuleana of Kahu," will be held 6 p.m. July 12.

Cost is $5 (free for museum members).
