The husband of a 63-year-old Kalihi woman who was stabbed to death June 13 was charged with second-degree murder today in connection with her killing.

Victorio Barayuga, 62, was arrested yesterday after he was discharged from The Queen's Medical Center.

Barayuga had been hospitalized since the day of the stabbing. Police said he slashed his wrist in an apparent suicide attempt after Liwliwa Barayuga was fatally stabbed.

The woman's body was found in their Kalihi home, along with her injured husband.

An autopsy determined Liwliwa Barayuga died of a stab wound to the chest.

If convicted, Barayuga faces up to life in prison.
