Bone marrow registry slated for today

Advertiser Staff

The Hawaii Bone Marrow Donor Registry will host an awareness event and drive from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the Town Center of Mililani.

Bone marrow and stem cell donors will be available for questions, and those interested in being a donor may also register. The event will also include live music by Kaena and Powerhouse, balloon artists and door prizes.

The registry uses the "buccal swab" technique, which involves a swab of cheek cells inside a person's mouth. Donors must be 18 to 60 years old and in good health.

For more information, call the registry at 547-6154 or visit www.marrow.org.
