A&B grant to help restore Bishop Museum's koa cases

The Alexander & Baldwin Foundation has pledged a $50,000 capital grant to the Bishop Museum's Hawaiian Hall Restoration Project.The grant will help restore historic koa cases that have housed the artifacts in Hawaiian Hall for more than 100 years. The original cases are being repaired and refinished and will contain cultural artifacts.
The $21 million Hawaiian Hall Restoration Project began in June 2006 and is expected to take more than two years to complete.
In a news release issued today Meredith Ching, president of Alexander & Baldwin Foundation, said: "We are particularly happy to know that our funding will help the museum to display more of its magnificent collection of Hawaiian treasures, in a setting that pays tribute to Hawai'i and her people."
