Hollywood Theatres holding local 'Almighty' promotion
Advertiser Staff
In conjunction with the release of Universal Pictures comedy "Evan Almighty," Hollywood Theaters will recognize a resident of Hawai'i for his or her good deeds.
The promotion was announced by Heather Wright, vice president of Hollywood Theaters, who said: "We are excited to reward the public for performing acts of random kindness and encourage the community to participate by nominating deserving individuals."
In the film, Steve Carell ("The 40-Year-Old Virgin"), reprising his role as the polished, preening newscaster Evan Baxter of "Bruce Almighty," is the next one anointed by God to accomplish a holy mission.
Newly elected to Congress, Evan leaves Buffalo behind and shepherds his family to suburban northern Virginia. Once there, his life gets turned upside-down when God (Morgan Freeman) appears and mysteriously commands him to build an ark. But his befuddled family just can't decide whether Evan is having an extraordinary mid-life crisis or is truly onto something of Biblical proportions ...
Nomination forms are available at the Hollywood Theater box offices in the Islands, including La'ie Cinemas. A drawing will be held on Thursday at participating movie houses to determine winners, who will receive 52 movie passes (or a season's worth of admissions) to Hollywood Theaters. The person who nominates the winner will receive an "Evan Almighty" prize pack from Universal Pictures.
