Wie, Kim pairings announced for U.S. Women's Open

Advertiser Staff

Both Hawai'i players in next week's U.S. Women's Open Championship drew friendly pairings when tee times for the first two rounds were announced today by the U.S. Golf Association.

Wie, who just graduated from Punahou, will play with Christina Kim and Natalie Gulbis. They go off the first tee Thursday at 2:06 a.m. (all times Hawai'i), and tee off on the 10th Friday at 7:36 a.m.

Kim, a 15-year-old who grew up in Hilo and now lives in Arizona, is playing with Annika Sorenstam, the former No. 1 player in the LPGA. Sherri Steinhauer, who is 30 years older than Kim and played in the final group at this year's SBS Open at Turtle Bay, is the third player.

That group tees off on the first hole at 7:25 a.m. Thursday and goes off the 10th at 1:55 p.m. Friday.
