'Evan Almighty' tops list of movie openings

Advertiser Staff

The latest in the summer of sequels debuts tonight on the big screens all around O'ahu and the Neighbor Islands.

'Evan Almighty,'' a follow up to "Bruce Almighty," should get a boost from Steve Carrell's presence and fans of "The Office."

It's a summer of blockbusters and some surprise hits ("Knocked Up," "Surf's Up.")

"Evan" is a good bet to lead the box office over the weekend. A sleeper is the intense "1408," featuring the always reliable John Cusack.
