Golf: Okino medalist at girls junior event

Cyd Okino shot a 1-under-par 72 today to earn medalist honors at the USGA Junior Amateur girls qualifier at Wailua Golf Course on Kaua'i.Chihiro Ikeda and Elyse Okada earned the other two berths in the national tournament, which starts July 23 at Tacoma Country & Golf Club in Lakewood, Wash. Ikeda and Okada beat out Cassy Isagawa in a playoff after all three shot 3-over 76.
Isagawa will be the first alternate and Tamara Surtees (79) earned the second alternate spot after defeating Kelcie Kawano in a playoff.
