3 Hawaii youth soccer teams fall in regional semifinals

All three Hawai'i teams lost today in the semifinal round of the U.S. Youth Soccer Far West Regionals in Las Vegas.

The HSC Bulls 88 Under 19 boys fell to SD Surf White (California South), 2-1.

The Ka'oi Rampage Under 12 girls lost 4-1 to Neusport FC '95 Green (Nevada).

The Leahi 91 Premier Under 16 girls lost 1-0 to FC Portland Sapphire (Oregon).

In all, 17 Hawaii teams competed in the regional with nine advancing out of pool play to quarterfinal action.

More than 10,000 teams nationwide competed in U.S. Youth Soccer State Championships with about 900 advancing to regional play in Las Vegas; Des Moines, Iowa; Portland, Maine; and Oklahoma City, Okla.
