Golf: Chan wins medalist honors at junior boys event

Lorens Chan shot a final-round 1-under-par 71 today to capture medalist honors of the USGA Junior Amateur boys qualifier at Wailua Golf Course on Kaua'i.Chan finished the 36-hole qualifier with a 4-under 140 total.
TJ Kua shot 74—143 to earn the second berth in the national tournament, which starts July 23 at Boone Valley Golf Course in Missouri.
Alex Ching (77) beat Bradley Shigezawa (70) in a playoff for the two top alternate spots after both finished at 145.
