Hawaii soccer teams in region semifinals

Three teams from Hawai'i yesterday advanced to the semifinal round of the U.S. Youth Soccer Far West Regionals in Las Vegas.

The HSC Bulls 88 Under 19 boys were the only boys team to advance, beating Sereno White of Arizona, 5-2. The Bulls play SD Surf White today.

Ka'oi Rampage made it to the under-12 girls semifinals with a 3-0 win over CISC Velocity of Alaska. It plays Neusport FC '95 Green of Nevada.

Leahi 91 Premier defeated Neusport Tabagators of Nevada, 1-0, in the under-16 girls division quarterfinals. It plays FC Portland Sapphire of Oregon.

The finals are tomorrow.

Six other Hawai'i teams who advanced to the quarterfinals were eliminated.

More than 10,000 teams nationwide competed in U.S. Youth Soccer State Championships with about 900 advancing to regional play in Las Vegas (Region IV, West), Des Moines, Iowa (Region II, Midwest), Portland, Maine (Region I, East) and Oklahoma City, Okla. (Region III, South).

Each division's regional winners will advance to the national final four in Frisco, Texas, a suburb of Dallas, next week.
