Advertiser Staff

Prosecutors have charged a 31-year-old felon with auto theft.

James Burkhart allegedly was stopped for a traffic offense Thursday morning in a vehicle later determined to be stolen. The stop was on Alapai Street at 2:14 a.m.

Burkhart is being held in lieu of $50,000.

During a routine search following his arrest, police allegedly found a 9mm bullet in Burkhart's pocket. He was investigated for being a felon in possession of ammunition but not charged.
