Hawaii Coast Guard cutter gets new skipper

Advertiser Staff

Lt. Cmdr. Jeffrey Randall is the new commanding officer of the Coast Guard cutter Walnut, which is based in Honolulu.

Randall succeeds Lt. Cmdr. Megan Dean, who will attend graduate school at George Washington University. A change-of-command ceremony was held Friday at the Coast Guard's base at Sand Island.

Prior to coming to Hawai'i, Randall was the Coast Guard's Fifth District assistant branch chief for enforcement and the Atlantic Area Fisheries officer.

He has served as commander of the cutter Staten Island and executive officer of the North Pacific Regional Fisheries Training Center in Kodiak, Alaska.
