10-week healthful eating campaign gets under way

Advertiser Staff

Healthful eating is the topic at a 1:30 p.m. news conference today in the governor's room of the Capitol Building.

Lt. Governor James "Duke" Aiona, along with members of the state Department of Health, will be announcing a "Fruits and Veggies. Good Choice" campaign.

The 10-week public education campaign is designed to get adults to eat one more serving of fruit and one more serving of vegetables every day. The DOH said in a news release that research shows more servings of each reduces the risk of heart disease, the leading cause of death in Hawai'i.

New TV commercials will be revealed at the news conference, along with a four-foot display of colorful island fruits and vegetables.
