Federal agency sets forum on regulatory burden

Advertiser Staff

Small business owners, community leaders and others concerned about what they believe is the excessive enforcement of federal rules are encouraged to attend a U.S. Small Business Administration Regulatory Fairness Board forum July 19 in Honolulu.

The forum will run from 10 a.m.-noon in the third-floor conference room at 1132 Bishop St.

Scheduled to attend the event are SBA National Ombudsman Nicholas Owens, members of the SBA Region IX regulatory fairness board, and representatives of federal regulatory agencies. The event will offer small business owners a chance to express their concerns about federal compliance practices in Hawai'i.

Comments and complaints will be directed to the appropriate federal regulatory agency. The information also will be shared with federal officials in the National Ombudsman's annual report to Congress.

The forum is open to the public. Those wishing to testify should contact SBA Deputy District Director Karen Sakihama at 541-2990, ext. 209, or by e-mail at karen.sakihama@sba.gov. For more information, visit www.sba.gov/ombudsman.
