BACK-TO-SCHOOL CANISTER CAMPAIGN

Waikiki Health Center's Back-to-School Canister Campaign collects money for immunizations and physical exams for low-income children. We need help with contacting participating stores, numbering the cans, and delivering them to stores.

    FAMILY SUPPORT COMMITTEE MEMBER

    Honolulu Habitat For Humanity — Do you want to be active in eliminating poverty housing on O'ahu? Honolulu Habitat for Humanity is in need of members for their Family Support Committee. The committee brainstorms and implements progressive action to empower partner family homeowners through a mutual support system, education/training courses, community resource referral.

    THE OUTDOOR CIRCLE

    Help Communicate Our Mission to Members and Community. The Outdoor Circle uses its quarterly newsletter to communicate its victories, projects, programs and special events to its members and the community. The Outdoor Circle is a membership organization, and its newsletter, Greenleaf, is a valuable tool to attract new members and to obtain feedback. You can help The Outdoor Circle in its communication and membership efforts by assisting with the labeling and mailing of the newsletter.

    Volunteer for an International Conference of Tree-lovers. About 1,000 arborists and their families from around the world are expected to attend. We need volunteers to help us with duties such as registering, monitoring educational sessions, helping people get to various events and staffing the hospitality booth. There also is a field day with an international tree-climbing contest and keiki activities.

    MAUI NUI BOTANICAL GARDENS, WEEKLY VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

    Maui Nui Botanical Gardens' volunteer "Weed & Pot Club" meets 8:30-10:30 a.m., every Wednesday at 150 Kanaloa Ave. in Kahului. Club members learn about native Hawaiian plants while working in the gardens. Projects include weeding, trimming, raking and potting plants. Sunscreen, tools and gloves are provided. Volunteers, wear gardening clothes and closed-toe shoes.
